5 Favorites: Buck Mason

I am excited to be starting a new blog series today! Whenever I do one of these, I am going to be highlighting a specific brand and 5 of my current favorite pieces from that brand. Some brands are really good top to bottom through the line. Some brands have one category they excel in. Regardless, I’m excited to highlight a few of my favorites and hopefully give you some great pieces you can check out! First up today, here is 5 Favorites: Buck Mason Edition.

Buck Mason is a California-based brand that is relatively new to the game. They were founded in 2013 and started with a basic jeans and tees offering. Since then, they have exploded. The idea around the brand is for guys who just want to look cool and have great quality clothing. They don’t jump on trends, and lean into their Modern American Classics with a California twist.

I have had a recent Buck Mason hyperfixation. As I have been upgrading my own wardrobe, I love that a lot of their pieces are American-made. The quality is fantastic. The designs are timeless. The color palette is neutral and so easy to wear. If you are a guy who wants to be comfortable and look cool, Buck Mason is such a great option.

Something about their clothing just feels rugged and masculine, but still refined and stylish.

Now that we’ve set a bit of the backstory, let’s get into my 5 favorites at Buck Mason.

1. Field-Spec Heavy Cotton Tee

Buck Mason started with tees, so we will too. I picked up this tee about 2 months ago and have been wearing it nonstop ever since. This thing is HEAVY. It’s almost like a sweater tee weight, but still definitely a cotton t-shirt. I personally love the weight. It is so soft and comfortable. I have worn it even on warmer days and it breathes surprisingly well. It’s currently offered in 10 colors – all in that signature neutral Buck Mason color palette. I have it in white and black, but I’m sure I’ll be adding more to my collection soon as well. It is $55 which I know is expensive for a t-shirt. But I think it’s a great investment option for something unique and high quality.

2. Full Saddle Jeans

I won’t lie – these are expensive jeans. I never would have thought I would ever spend this much on a pair of jeans. My wife talked me into purchasing the dark blue pair as a fun New York City piece. I had been looking for a higher-rise, fuller-fitting pair of denim for a long time. After talking with the store associate about these pants, I was sold. Since I got them home, I have been looking for any excuse to wear them. 85 degrees outside? Who cares, I’m wearing the jeans. They are comfortable and the quality feels absolutely fantastic.

These jeans are Made in America with Japanese Selvedge denim. They are 100% cotton and feel like a pair of jeans should feel. They’re 14 oz which is a great all-season weight. The only thing that does take some getting used to is the button fly. I swear I always have at least one of the buttons undone. But, if you want to buy a pair of jeans that will last for years to come, I think this is a great option. They offer it in a dark wash, ecru, and a light wash coming soon. The store associate did encourage me not to wash the dark wash very often. They have been rinsed once, but he said to treat them like a pair of raw denim. Totally your call!

3. Wornwell Short Sleeve Camp Collar Shirt

This is a great summer shirt. My obsession with camp collar shirts this season has been well-documented so far. I just can’t get enough of wearing them open with a ribbed tank top. It’s a great way to keep things light and breezy for summer while still layering and looking stylish. I love the olive green and white stripe on this shirt. It also has a slightly more exaggerated collar that is a bit retro and very cool. It’s 100% cotton so it is nice and breathable for summer. It looks great and will be stylish all season long. It’s also available in white, blue, and another more subtle striped pattern.

4. 6 Inch Deck Short

I just ordered a pair of these deck shorts and I am so excited to try them out! They look really good, and while the 7 inch is usually my sweet spot for casual shorts, these look a bit longer than 6 inches to my eye so I think they will be perfect. They have an elastic waistband for maximum comfort and are mostly cotton with a bit of stretch. I think they will be a go-to for those relaxed summer days!

5. Avalon Knit Polo

Any 2024 summer list would be lost without a sweater polo. Buck Mason’s offering in this category is kind of unique in my opinion. While many sweater polos lean a bit more “old money” polished or beachy casual, the Avalon Knit Polo could pair perfectly with a pair of jeans or shorts in a casual wardrobe. The knit is a bit more rugged and the fit is perfectly relaxed. But, it still brings a level of sophistication to your outfit that a t-shirt or camp collar doesn’t quite match. It’s also nice and lightweight. I really think this is a piece you will reach for often this summer.

As a final note, if you have a chance to visit a Buck Mason store in person, do it. The vibes are immaculate. They seem to have an incredible knack for finding amazing pieces of real estate and curating them to perfection. From fantastic scents to curated vintage collections and great featured books, it is really an all around experience that makes you enjoy the brand even more. And, you might even find a vintage Porsche in there if you’re lucky!
