It’s hot outside. Like really hot. Where I live, we’re looking at 14+ straight days over 100° F. And when it’s really hot outside, there is only so much you can do from a fashion standpoint. But, if you need to look presentable, with a few intentional choices you can still look good and feel reasonably good! So here are a few Essential Pieces for the Hottest Days!
1. Lightweight Camp Collar Shirt
I’ve been banging the drum for camp collar shirts all summer. They’re lightweight, loose and flowy, and often come in breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. You can wear it buttoned up for a slightly more elevated look, or wear it unbuttoned over a tank top for a laid back casual look.

2. Linen Shorts
Nothing beats linen in the summer. It’s so lightweight and breathable. It lets a ton of air through to keep things a bit cooler on those hot days. While it does wrinkle, I think it adds to the charm!

3. Canvas Sneaker
I wore leather sneakers to dinner tonight and immediately regretted it. When it gets really hot, you just can’t beat canvas. It’s so much lighter and more breathable so your feet aren’t sweaty the moment you leave the house. I’m not a big sandals guy, so canvas sneakers are definitely my go-to.

4. Accessories
When you have to keep the layers to a minimum, look to your accessories to pack a punch. I don’t wear a ton, so I definitely have some favorites I lean on regularly. For me, a watch and a pair of sunglasses are my staples. You could take it further with a necklace, neckerchief, rings, or anything else you’re comfortable with!

5. Hat
Keeping the sun of your face is high priority when it’s super hot. It’s good for sun protection and to keep you a bit cooler as well. While hats are always casual, if you’re going for a relatively smarter look an unstructured dad hat is your best option. If you want to keep things super laid back, you could go for an a-frame style hat which is right on trend.
