I’m turning 30 this year in August and it’s gotten in my head a little bit–but not necessarily in just a bad way. As a young adult, you are constantly told your twenties are the years…And it’s pretty much all downhill from there! But, I’ve decided I am determined to not let that be the case. Just because I’m turning 30 doesn’t mean that I have reached the peak of life. In fact, it would be pretty sad if that were the case considering I may have another 50-70 years to live if all goes well. I’m someone who always likes to improve myself, and turning 30 this year is the push I need to really take my goals this year even more seriously.
So, the idea of Better at 30 was born! This has been my phone screensaver since I turned 29 and realized that 30 was the next step.
Things I’m doing to be Better at 30:
75 Hard
My wife and I felt pretty rough after spending December traveling and celebrating the holidays. So we decided to start off the year with the 75 Hard challenge. It’s been such a great discipline, and we have honestly found that it gets so much easier with time. It is already kick-starting some weight loss goals and fitness goals of mine for the year. We are on day 39 and going strong!
Run a half marathon in May
I’m easily influenced, because all of the runners on Tik Tok made me want to be a runner! I’ve never run more than a couple miles in my life, so figured I’d start small and run a half marathon (sense the sarcasm!). I decided to drag a few friends into the mix for accountability and running buddies! Now, we are training a couple days a week solo and a couple together, and I am amazed at how much easier running has become!
Spend time in my bible every single day
As a believer, this is something that I know needs to be top priority, but often falls to the bottom of the list. So this year, I plan to pick up my Bible every single day. I’m also listening to the Bible whenever I workout, go for runs, or find myself doing a task around the house. I have also been reading Praying the Scriptures for your Marriage and loving the content!
Read 30 Books
So far this year I’ve already read The Compound Effect, Same as Ever, Atomic Habits and I’m currently working on Steal Like an Artist! This quote by Austin Kleon from Steal Like an Artist has really resonated with me:
“School is one thing. Education is another. The two don’t always overlap. Whether you’re in school or not, it’s always your job to get yourself an education.”
If you don’t like reading, you’re not alone. For me, it all changed when I got my Amazon Kindle! You lose the feel and sophistication of traditional books, but the convenience is well worth it!
Content Creation Goals
Waking up and creating content every day can be a large undertaking, and it’s easy to find excuses to not share. So, I’ve set a personal goal of creating 365 Tik Toks, posting on IG 250 times and sharing 150 blog posts…make that 149 now!
Tracking my Goals
I always find that writing down my goals is the best way to check in on them and accomplish them! If you’re like me and you prefer something a little more aesthetic, feel free to use my Canva template here to write down your own goals!
I’m a big believer in setting goals, and personally, I need them to keep myself accountable. I imagine I will feel a lot better heading into my 30s if I’m the best version of myself: physically, spiritually, relationally, and physically. What do you think? Are you in to join me in making this your best year yet?
I’ve always found writing this done is key to actually doing them, holding yourself accountable. Good luck this year and hope your progess is gone well!
