We spent most of last week in New York City and Washington D.C. New York is one of my all time favorite places. There is so much energy, fashion, and amazing food! With the trip coming up, I planned out a few outfits. The weather turned on us a bit, so we had to change on the fly. Summer fashion turned heavy into spring, but hopefully these fits are still helpful if you’re not experiencing sweltering heat yet! Here are 4 outfits I wore in NYC.
Upper West Side
We spent Saturday morning in the Upper West Side, one of our favorite areas in New York! It’s a quieter area and it was fun seeing all of the NYC families in their element. I went for a more casual outfit, with one of my favorite spring jackets from Abercrombie. I also don’t know if it’s lame to wear a Yankees hat in New York, but it’s one of my go-to’s as you know! I’ve been loving wearing belts this spring and this one from Uniqlo is affordable and has been awesome. I have it in brown and black and love it in both! You can shop the whole fit right here!
SoHo Showers
This might be the least applicable outfit heading into summer. The unexpected colder temperatures and rain showers forced my hand on this outfit! It’s one area where having a closet with a lot of neutrals comes in handy. I was able to dig in my suitcase and pull out something that worked on short notice. This sweater from SuitSupply was a late winter purchase. The quality is fantastic and it’s my favorite sweater at the moment. I’m legitimately excited for it to be cold again to wear it more. On the other end of the spectrum, this Uniqlo Trench Coat is surprisingly high quality for the relatively low price point. Also, leave it to me to make my white Veja sneakers my rain shoes. Check out all of the pieces here!
Springtime Blues
Monday brought the sun back and the first time wearing my big purchase from the trip – these Buck Mason Full Saddle Japanese Selvedge jeans. These were an investment and a pair of jeans I’m hoping to have for years to come. They are a bit wider fit than I am used to, but they have grown on me so quickly. I’m loving the wider fit for a stylish look and they’re so comfortable. I paired it with all blues – with a navy Buck Mason slub tee and a navy sweater draped over the shoulders. The Reebok Club C is one of my go-to travel shoes for maximum comfort while still looking stylish. Shop the look here!
Afternoon Shopping
Something about being in New York makes me want to try new things fashion-wise. While I usually keep things simple, these trousers were a fun addition. They’re from Uniqlo, so it was a pretty low-risk proposition. They definitely felt solid in the city, but heading back to suburbia I’ll see how much they make it into the rotation! Don’t be afraid to have fun with your style and try new things! I also snagged a couple of Uniqlo Wife Pleasers on the trip. For $10, I think they’re a nice quality upgrade over the Target multipack I’ve been wearing! Let me know what you think of this fit in the comments, I’d love to know if you like this more fashion-forward style!
I promise I’ve got some warmer weather outfits coming soon. Definitely didn’t anticipate the cooler temperatures on this trip. But hopefully they’re still helpful this spring or save them for the fall as well!
